Kenya’s national under-18 football team, Junior Stars, is aiming to secure a spot in the 2023 Cecafa Under-18 Championships semifinals as they take on Rwanda at Jomo Kenyatta Stadium in Kisumu on Tuesday.
Under the leadership of Salim Babu, the team dominated their opening match against Sudan with a 5-0 victory in Kisumu last Saturday.
US-based forward Louise Ingavi and Rainbow FC winger Tyron Kariuki who features in the National Super League delivered standout performances.
Ingavi scored a brace in addition to Kariuki, Aldrine Kibet, and Elly Owande goals.
Kenya shares the top spot in Group A with three points alongside Rwanda, who secured a 1-0 win against Somalia.
A victory for the Junior Stars in this match will secure their spot in the semifinals scheduled for next Tuesday.
The match between Kenya and Rwanda will kick off at 12 pm (East African Time), followed by the clash between Somalia and Sudan at 3 pm at Jomo Kenyatta Stadium.
Group B matches, featuring Uganda, Tanzania, Zanzibar, and South Sudan, are being played in Kakamega, while Group A, consisting of hosts Kenya, Somalia, Rwanda, and Sudan, are in Kisumu.
