The race towards securing a place in the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco 2024 will be concluded on Tuesday, with some crucial fixtures set to take place in different parts of the continent.
A total of nine matches will take place with one of the key encounters being that of Kenya travelling to Botswana following their 1-1 draw in the first leg.
Keituneste Dithede scored for Botswana, but Marjolene Nekesa equalized for Kenya in the drawn match. The team emerging victorious will secure an automatic qualification for next year’s continental games.
Both sides have previously participated in the WAFCON once, and the winner of the upcoming second leg will earn a ticket to the continental games for the second time.
The upcoming second leg won’t be an easy challenge for the Starlets, who are aiming to make history.
Harambee Starlets achieved a historic qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations in 2016, securing their spot for the first time through the away-goal rule.
In the initial leg of that match, there was also a 1-1 draw, and a subsequent 2-2 draw in Algiers ensured their qualification based on the away goal rule.
Equatorial Guinea also travel to DR Congo after they too were held to a 1-1 draw to set up what will be an action packed return leg.
Looking at Namibia, they will have a very steep mountain to climb when facing Ghana who edged overcame them 3-1 in the first leg.
