In a dazzling display of skill and determination, Mombasa’s Bandari Youth and Changamwe Ladies emerged victorious in the Safaricom Chapa Dimba Coast region 4th edition, held at the electric Mbaraki Sports Ground in Mombasa County.

Bandari Youth, buoyed by an enthusiastic crowd, silenced The Young Gunners from Tana River with a resounding 3-0 triumph, courtesy of a spectacular hattrick from the talismanic Khamis Nyale. Nyale’s stellar performance not only led his team to victory but also earned him the coveted Most Valuable Player (MVP) and Top Scorer awards in the boys’ category. His exceptional skills showcased why he is considered one of the rising stars in Kenyan football.

On the women’s side, Changamwe Ladies secured their second regional Safaricom Chapa Dimba title by defeating Kilifi’s Bulls Starlets 3-0. The home team took the lead in the 15th minute through a precise header by Mercy Ouma, following a delightful corner cross from Margaret Nafula. Margaret Nafula doubled the lead in the 24th minute, making it 2-0 by halftime. Fidelia Atieno sealed the victory with a superb strike in the 90th minute, leaving Bulls Starlets with no hope.

Alex Shikanga, the Head Coach of Bandari Youth, expressed gratitude to Safaricom for their commitment to nurturing football talents. He acknowledged the tough challenge posed by their opponents and urged the fans to continue their unwavering support as they prepare for the national finals.

Both Bandari Youth and Changamwe Ladies had displayed their prowess in the semi-finals, beating Bahati Juniors from Taita Taveta and Ukunda Starlets from Kwale, respectively. The Young Gunners and Bulls Starlets, their respective opponents in the finals, had also showcased their mettle in the semis.
