CAF Champions League: African giants Al Ahly and TP Mazembe among quarter-final contenders

The TotalEnergies CAF Champions League quarter-final lineup has been confirmed following a thrilling conclusion to the group stage matches. Tunisia’s Esperance Sportive de Tunis sealed the last spot in the quarter-finals with a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Al Hilal SC on Saturday night, capping off the list of top eight teams vying for African football’s most prestigious club trophy.

Esperance’s victory at home saw them join a distinguished list of former champions in the quarter-finals. The Tunisian side, who have tasted continental success four times before, will be eager to add another title to their collection.

Joining Esperance are defending champions and Egyptian giants Al Ahly, who secured their spot atop Group D with a 1-0 victory over Young Africans. Despite the loss, the Tanzanian side managed to clinch second place in the group.

Ivorian side ASEC Mimosas topped Group B, despite losing to Wydad Casablanca, while Angola’s Petro de Luanda claimed the top spot in Group C with a 2-0 win over Etoile du Sahel.
