South Africa’s Springbok Women are gearing up for their final showdown of the 2024 European tour as they prepare to face the USA Women in London on Saturday.
With reflections on their journey so far and a determination to end on a positive note, Captain Nolusindiso Booi and her squad are focused on delivering a strong performance at Ealing Sport Club, kick-off at 15:00 SA time.
Having shown significant progress and improvement throughout the tour, including a notable victory against Spain, Booi sees their experiences against Scotland and Wales as crucial in preparing for the challenge posed by the USA.
“We have been building nicely during the tour,” Booi remarked, emphasizing the importance of adapting to the intensity and pace of top-tier teams.
As they approach the final leg of their tour, Booi urged her teammates to maintain their focus and push through until the last play. “We have one more job to do,” she emphasized, highlighting their objective to secure victories in both tests.
For Booi, the upcoming match holds personal significance, marking her 42nd Test cap for the Springbok Women.
It’s also a special occasion for teammates Asipe Mayaba and Nomsa Mokwai. Mayaba, returning from injury, aims to make an impact on her third test cap, while Mokwai finds motivation in honoring her mother’s memory, who passed away at the start of the tour.
Reflecting on the significance of the match, Mokwai expressed gratitude for the opportunity to return to test rugby and honor her mother’s legacy.
Mayaba, likewise, is eager to make her mark on the field, emphasizing her excitement at rejoining her teammates at this level of competition.
The history between the two teams adds an extra layer of anticipation to the upcoming clash, with previous encounters showcasing the competitive spirit between South Africa and the USA.
With emotions running high and motivations driving each player, the Springbok Women are poised to give their all in their final test match of the European tour, aiming for a positive ending against the USA Women at Ealing Trailfinders Sports Club in London.
Kick-off is set for 15:00 SA time, with Holly Wood of England appointed as the referee.
