The host nation of the CAF Futsal AFCON, Morocco, showcased their prowess on the court, delivering a resounding 13-0 victory over Zambia at the packed Prince Moulay Abdellah Hall.
From the opening whistle, Morocco’s Atlas Lions asserted their authority, leaving Zambia struggling to keep pace. Captain Soufiane El Mesrar set the tone early with a lightning-fast goal just two minutes into the match, signaling Morocco’s relentless intent.
The onslaught continued relentlessly as Idriss Raiss El Fenni and his teammates orchestrated a masterclass in attacking futsal. Goals came in quick succession, with Ismail Amazal and Soufian Charraoui adding to the scoreline, leaving Zambia reeling.
Despite Zambia’s efforts to stem the tide, Morocco’s relentless pressure proved too much to handle. Anas El Ayyane’s quick-fire brace before halftime pushed the lead to an insurmountable 8-0, sending the home crowd into a frenzy.
With the outcome all but decided, Morocco returned from the break with renewed vigor, determined to further assert their dominance. Bilal Bakkali and Otmane Boumezou extended the lead with clinical finishes, leaving Zambia’s defense in disarray.
As the final whistle approached, Morocco showed no mercy, adding insult to injury with goals from Anas Dahani, an own goal by Jackson Simwami, and Youssef Jouad’s strike, completing the emphatic 13-0 rout.
Meanwhile, Angola delivered a commanding performance of their own, dispatching Ghana 11-3 at the Salle IBN Yassine. With these victories, both Morocco and Angola secured their spots in the semi-finals, setting the stage for thrilling clashes as they vie for continental glory.
With their eyes set on the ultimate prize, Morocco will face the runners-up of Group B in the semi-finals, while Angola will lock horns with the Group B winners, promising another night of electrifying futsal action at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Hall.
