Golf enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating the next leg of the KCB East Africa Golf Tour, set to take place this Saturday at the picturesque Nanyuki Sports Club. Over 120 golfers will test their skills on the nine-hole par 72 course, nestled off Nanyuki Meru Road in Laikipia East, as they compete in the 12th leg of this ongoing tour.
The tournament will begin with a morning tee-off at 6:30 am, followed by an afternoon session at 12:30 pm. As participants strive to secure their spots in the grand finale on December 6, 2024, the excitement is palpable.
Rosalind Gichuru, KCB Group Director of Marketing and Communications, emphasized the importance of the event. “KCB has always been dedicated to promoting the growth of golf. Engaging with golfers from Mt. Kenya at the Nanyuki Golf Course reaffirms our commitment to nurturing the sport from the grassroots,” Gichuru remarked. Her comments highlight KCB’s dedication to developing golf across the region.
The tournament will see two top teams from Nanyuki joining others from Nairobi, Nakuru, Uasin Gishu, Kiambu, Nyeri, Kericho, Nandi, Kakamega, Mombasa, and Burundi. These teams have already qualified for the grand finale, where the winning team will take home KShs. 1 million and earn a spot in the 2025 Magical Kenya Ladies Open Pro-AM event at Vipingo Ridge in Kilifi County.
Anthony Rukwaro, Captain of the Nanyuki Sports Club, expressed his excitement about hosting the event. “Our course is in excellent condition, with wide fairways that provide a fantastic experience for golfers.
Additionally, our top-notch facilities and warm hospitality ensure that participants will have an enjoyable and memorable stay, all under the stunning backdrop of Mt. Kenya,” Rukwaro said. His words underscore the club’s readiness to host a significant event and the unique experience awaiting the golfers.
The KCB East Africa Golf Tour has already made notable progress in promoting the sport. This year, KCB has organized two caddie tournaments in Nakuru and Mombasa, with two more scheduled. The tour has engaged over 1,500 participants and more than 500 juniors, demonstrating its widespread impact and growing popularity.
The weekend’s activities will conclude with a tree planting drive on Sunday and a juniors’ clinic at the same venue. This initiative represents a key aspect of KCB’s sustainability efforts, blending sports development with environmental conservation.
As the tournament day approaches, the atmosphere in Nanyuki is charged with anticipation. Golfers, enthusiasts, and spectators are preparing for what promises to be an exciting event. With Mount Kenya providing a stunning backdrop, participants can look forward to a weekend filled with thrilling golf, camaraderie, and competitive spirit.
In addition to the competitive play, the KCB East Africa Golf Tour continues to build a legacy of fostering talent and promoting sustainability. The juniors’ clinic will offer young aspiring golfers the chance to learn from seasoned players, further emphasizing KCB’s commitment to nurturing future champions.
As dawn breaks over the Nanyuki Sports Club on Saturday, golfers will tee off, driven by a shared vision of growth, excellence, and sustainability. The journey towards the grand finale in December is well underway, and the Nanyuki leg is set to be a significant milestone in this remarkable tour.
