Kenya Police Bullets FC battled to a goalless draw against South Sudan’s Yei Joint Stars in the second Group A match of the CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA qualifiers on Sunday.
Making their debut in this prestigious competition, Yei Joint Stars impressed with a resolute defensive display, effectively stifling Kenya Police’s attacking advances.
Despite being under pressure for most of the match, the South Sudanese side stood firm, showcasing their determination and discipline on the field.
Yei Joint Stars also posed a threat on the counterattack, with Mary Dawa coming close to breaking the deadlock in what would have been a remarkable moment for her team.
This match was a critical test for Yei Joint Stars as they prepare for their next challenge against tournament hosts, Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, on Tuesday.
On the other hand, Kenya Police FC will look to bounce back in their upcoming fixture against Rayon Sports.
The action in the CECAFA qualifiers continues on Monday, with Group B teams set to begin their campaigns. PVP Buyenzi will face Kawempe, while Simba Queens take on Djibouti Armed Forces.
