Renowned Motocross (MX) instructor Andre Dearden has arrived in Kenya to lead a “Training the Trainers” (TTT) program at the Jamhuri MX Track, running from September 13 to 15.
Dearden’s visit, made possible by the Women in Motorcycling Commission of FIM Africa and supported by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), marks a pivotal moment for off-road motorcycling in Kenya.
The initiative focuses on advancing the training and skill development of women in motocross, both as instructors and riders. It is part of a broader “Training of Off-road Trainers” program aimed at educating more trainers across Africa.
The goal is to enhance the development of motorcycling skills, nurture young talent, and increase the participation of women in the sport.
The TTT program will not only educate Kenyan instructors but also prepare FIM member countries to develop talent from grassroots levels, ensuring sustainable growth in motocross.
Qualified trainers and selected women riders will benefit from this intensive course, which aims to raise the standard of coaching and performance across the continent.
Following his stint in Kenya, Dearden will travel to Uganda to conduct similar training, as part of an extensive plan to reach several African nations.
This program follows the successful FIM MX GP Academy, which was held in Kenya in early August and aimed to boost the skills of local motocross coaches and riders.
In addition to the TTT sessions, Dearden will also work closely with Kenya’s MX team in preparation for the upcoming Motocross of African Nations, scheduled to take place in Morocco in October.
Kenya’s motocross community is eager to build on the momentum of these training events, particularly as the country aims to uplift the standard of riding and expand participation in the sport.
The MXGP Academy, launched in 2015 in collaboration with the FIM and the Motocross Training Club (MTC), has played a critical role in promoting motocross across the world.
Last month’s MXGP Academy in Kenya marked the first time the event was hosted in the country, further showcasing the region’s growing influence in the sport.
Dearden’s expertise, which has helped shape some of Africa’s top riders, will undoubtedly contribute to the future success of motocross in Kenya and the broader African continent.
The ongoing efforts, supported by organizations like the Motorcycle Sports Federation of Kenya, are setting the stage for a new generation of skilled riders and trainers, fostering growth from grassroots to international competition levels.
