Namibia’s women’s football coach Woody Jacobs announced the final 20-player squad on Sunday, ahead of the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) Women’s Championship.
The COSAFA Women’s Championship will run from October 22 to November 2 in South Africa.
Namibia is in Group A with South Africa, Seychelles and Eswatini. Their first match will be against South Africa on Tuesday, a match Jacobs says is crucial for Namibia to win and progress to the knockout stage.
Jacobs has roped in former under-17 national coach Christy Guruseb as his assistant, replacing Mamie Kasaona, who is completing her CAF B Diploma in Tanzania.
This year’s tournament will feature a record 14 teams, making it the largest women’s competition on the African continent.
