KCB FC continued their unbeaten run in the 2024/25 FKF Premier League season, holding defending champions Gor Mahia to a goalless draw in a tightly contested encounter in Matchweek 6.
The stalemate secured KCB’s top spot with 14 points, staying two points clear of Kariobangi Sharks, who sit second with 11 points.
Gor Mahia, still adjusting to the new campaign, sit eighth in the standings with seven points, with only one win and four draws from their opening matches. The point against KCB, though valuable, leaves them needing more consistency if they are to reclaim their title.
Elsewhere, Kariobangi Sharks missed an opportunity to close the gap at the top after a narrow 1-0 loss to Bidco United. Bidco’s crucial win lifts them to ninth place with six points, showing improvement after a slow start to the season. Meanwhile, Mara Sugar, one of the season’s surprise packages, secured a 1-1 draw against Posta Rangers to climb to third with 11 points, level with Kariobangi Sharks but behind on goal difference.
AFC Leopards, aiming to maintain their momentum, suffered a setback with a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Murang’a Seal. Murang’a, with this impressive win, moved to seventh in the table, just one point behind the top six. Tusker FC were held to a 1-1 draw by Ulinzi Stars, leaving them in fifth place with nine points, tied with Bandari FC, who also have nine points but with a game in hand.
At the bottom of the standings, Nairobi City Stars remain winless after a 2-0 loss to Kakamega Homeboyz. They are joined in the relegation zone by Shabana FC, who also have just two points following a narrow 1-0 loss to Sofapaka. Ulinzi Stars, with three points from five games, occupy the relegation playoff spot after their draw with Tusker.
Police FC showed resilience in their 2-0 win over Mathare United, bouncing back from a mixed start to the season. The victory moves Police to 10th place with five points, while Mathare continues to struggle, sitting 15th with just five points and a worrying -9 goal difference.
As the season heats up, KCB’s solid start gives them an edge, but with several teams in close pursuit, the race for the top spot promises to be fiercely contested in the coming weeks.
