Watch your favourite African players shine in LALIGA on GOtv

Date:

LALIGA Matchday 20 will spotlight several African players who continue to make an impact on Spain’s top-flight football scene. As the season progresses, these talented athletes from across the continent are playing crucial roles in their respective teams, with their speed, skill, and tenacity offering an added edge to LALIGA’s competitive landscape.

From attacking forces that can change the course of a match to defensive stalwarts holding firm at the back, African players are essential to the dynamic nature of the league.

Whether it’s their goal-scoring prowess, creative vision, or leadership qualities, Matchday 20 is set to showcase the flair and talent that African players bring to the Spanish game.

The round begins on Friday evening January 17, 2025 as Espanyol hosts Valladolid at the RCDE Stadium in a potential early relegation six-pointer. The away team will be trusting Mamadou Sylla to possibly fire in the goals.

Saturday January 18, 2025 afternoon brings an interesting match-up between league leaders Atletico Madrid and Leganes at Estadio Municipal de Butarque. Mozambican full back Reinildo Mandava has become a crucial member of Diego Simeone’s team this season.

“The truth is that Simeone tells me that he can see I’m significantly better than I was at the end of last season, and I seem a bit closer to what I was when I arrived here at Atleti,” Mandava says. This game definitely presents an opportunity for him to keep showing what he’s made of.

Osasuna will be going up against Rayo Vallecano  at Estadio El Sadar in a mid-table clash on the evening of Sunday January 19. Cameroonian defender Flavien Boyomo will be looking to keep a clean sheet in this one for Los Rojillos.

Boyomo is a massive supporter of other African players, and even predicted that Nigeria and Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman would win the CAF Payer of the Year award, which he did.

“I’ll say Lookman. Because he won the Europa League, so I think he’s the one that’s got the best chance to win it this year,” said Boyomo a few months ago.
