As such, the difference between the top three is still just one point. Below comes a look at the latest results in the title race and elsewhere.

Barça win in the Canary Islands to stay top

FC Barcelona remain in first place in LALIGA EA SPORTS thanks to a 2-0 win away at UD Las Palmas on Saturday. A great goal by Dani Olmo just after the hour mark opened the scoring, before Ferran Torres added a second in stoppage time. It means Barça have now won five in a row in league play.

Modrić inspires Real Madrid to victory over Girona FC

Real Madrid remain right next FC Barcelona at the top of the table, with Los Blancos in second place but level with Los Azulgranas on 54 points. That’s thanks to a 2-0 home win over Girona FC, in which Luka Modrić opened the scoring with a spectacular long-range strike, before Vinícius added a second late on.

Julián Álvarez keeps Atleti in the mix

Third-placed Atlético de Madrid also won their Matchday 25 fixture, in their case defeating Valencia CF 3-0 at Mestalla for Los Colchoneros’ first away win in LALIGA EA SPORTS in 2025. Julián Álvarez was the star man, scoring the first two goals, before Ángel Correa rounded off the 3-0 win that keeps Diego Simeone’s charges just one point behind both FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Athletic Club flex their attacking muscle

Athletic Club put on a show for their fans at San Mamés on Sunday, thrashing bottom-placed Real Valladolid 7-1. Nico Williams was especially impressive as he scored two of the goals in the victory, which means the Basques are only six points off first place in the LALIGA EA SPORTS table.

Álvaro Rubio is the new coach of Real Valladolid

Rooted to the bottom of the table, Real Valladolid made a coaching change this past week. Diego Cocca has been relieved of his duties, and Álvaro Rubio, a former Real Valladolid player, has been appointed until the end of the season.

Villarreal CF strengthen their grip on fifth plac

There was a very important game in the European race in Matchday 25, as fifth-placed Villarreal CF visited sixth-placed Rayo Vallecano. A second-half Ayoze Pérez goal earned the visitors a 1-0 victory, which means they have strengthened their grip on fifth place and are now nine points clear of sixth place.

Fernando Calero earns breathing space for RCD Espanyol

There was also an important six-pointer in the relegation battle, as Deportivo Alavés hosted RCD Espanyol. It was the Catalan side who came out on top, earning a 1-0 win courtesy of a late Fernando Calero header. That leaves Deportivo Alavés second-bottom, while RCD Espanyol are now four points clear off the relegation zone.

Real Betis and Real Sociedad climb the table

Both Real Betis and Real Sociedad achieved important wins on Sunday night, with Los Verdiblancos overcoming Getafe CF 2-1 thanks to a brace from Isco and with Real Sociedad thrashing CD Leganés 3-0 at home. Those wins mean they’ve climbed up to seventh and eighth place, respectively.

Real Madrid eliminate Manchester City and will face Atleti in the Champions League

There was Champions League action this past midweek, and Real Madrid defeated Manchester City 3-1 at home courtesy of a Kylian Mbappé hat-trick, knocking the English champions out of the competition. Los Blancos’ reward is a Round of 16 tie against city rivals Atlético de Madrid. Meanwhile, FC Barcelona have been drawn to face Benfica in the Last 16 of the tournament.

Athletic Club, Real Sociedad and Real Betis learn their European opponents

The draw for the Last 16 of the Europa League also took place, with Athletic Club paired with Roma and Real Sociedad with Manchester United. As for the Conference League, there Real Betis will take on Portuguese side Vitória de Guimarães in the Round of 16.
