Kabras Sugar RFC beat KCB RFC 25-21 in the Enterprise Cup semis as Menengai Oilers secured a commanding 41-10 victory over Nondies RFC on on March 15, 2025.
Kabras showcased their mettle again as they secured their fourth consecutive victory over KCB RFC in a duel staged at the Kakamega Showgrounds.
The Sugarmen, who last lost in the Enterprise Cup on 28 April 2018 to Impala in the semifinals, have now reached their fifth consecutive final in the tournament.
This semifinal marked the first meeting between the two sides in this stage of the competition, with Kabras having triumphed in the last three Enterprise Cup finals against KCB Rugby.
KCB started the game well with the man in form Austin Sikutwa converting a penalty to hand his team a 3-0 lead before Kabras’s winger Griffin Chao charged past KCB’s defence to cross the white line. Ntabeni Dukisa converted to lead 7-3.
Andy Cole Omolo bullied the Kabras defence to restore KCB’s lead. Levy Amunga converted a drop goal as KCB held on to a 11-7 lead. Griffin Chao once again scored his second try of the game to see Kabras lead 12-11 before Cantona’s drop goal that left the scores 15-11 in favor of the Kakamega-based outfit.

Just before the interval, Walter Okoth grabbed another try to extend Kabras’s lead to 22-11 after a successful conversion by the experienced flyhalf Ntabeni Dukisa. The scores stood at 22-11 at the break, Kabras with the upper hand.
In the second half, Austin Sikutwa threw the first blood after converting a beautiful penalty kick. Dukisa responded with another penalty before Andy Cole’s try that saw KCB reduce the deficit to 25-21 however, the time was not enough for the bankers to score another try.
The Bankers have now shifted their attention to the upcoming Kenya Cup semi-final clash against Menengai Oilers or Nondescripts scheduled to be played on March 29, 2024.

Speaking after the loss in Kakamega, KCB head coach Oliver Mang’eni said: “The boys have tremendously improved since our last outing here in the Kenya Cup. Our set pieces have been spot on but we are still lacking in the decision making department.
“From the onset, we dominated the game and we should have won. They triumphed due to our mistakes which we need to quickly work on before we resume action in the Kenya Cup semi-final.”
Meanwhile, Menengai Oilers secured a commanding 41-10 victory over Nondies RFC in an exciting Enterprise Cup semi-final at the Nakuru Showgrounds, earning a place in their first-ever cup final.
The Red Lions put the home team under pressure right from the start, first forcing a knock-on from Vincent Mwikali just outside the 22-metre line. Soon after, a kick from Dominick Osino at the base of the ruck had the Oilers scrambling to secure the ball in their try area.
