Football

This weekend’s football action spans continents, leagues, and stakes – offering something for every fan. In the Premier League, Manchester City face Tottenham in a thrilling clash of styles, while Newcastle host Liverpool in what could be an early top-four decider.

Spurs’ new manager Thomas Frank will be under pressure to build on the success of predecessor Ange Postecoglou, with club chairman Daniel Levy declaring: “We’ve been in 16 or 17 semifinals, we’ve been in six or seven finals and we haven’t won enough.

We need to use it [winning the UEFA Europa League last season] as a springboard to keep winning, that’s what it’s all about. We’ve won two trophies in the last 20+ years.”

Across the channel, LALIGA enters Matchday 2, with Real Madrid visiting Real Oviedo and Barcelona travelling to Levante – two fixtures that should test the title favourites. Atletico Madrid face Elche at home, looking to build early momentum.

In Italy, the Serie A season kicks off with Juventus taking on Parma, while AC Milan, Inter, and Napoli all begin their campaigns with favourable matchups. Newly promoted Pisa will look to make their mark, while Roma vs Bologna headlines the race for European places.

The opening weekend promises tactical intrigue and fresh storylines as teams unveil new signings and formations.

Meanwhile, the African Nations Championship (CHAN) reaches a critical point with Matchday 5 and the start of the quarterfinals.

Nigeria face Congo and Sudan meet Senegal in key group deciders, before four knockout games across Friday and Saturday determine the continent’s semifinalists. It’s a packed schedule, rich in narrative, talent, and continental pride.

SuperSport’s pre-match analysis, range of camera angles, post-match banter, talk shows, and world-class commentary means you will squeeze every drop of enjoyment out of your football viewing!
