Daniel Nyerere produced a remarkable performance to win the 2025 Rana Golf Day tournament at the Nyanza Golf Club in Kisumu, outshining a strong field of 250 golfers to take the overall title with an impressive 45 net.

Nyerere, who stunned many by outplaying his four-ball partners, said the victory was the result of self-belief.

“Some of my flight mates underrated me, but I took it as a challenge to prove myself. I kept focus throughout the round, and winning against such a huge field is very special,” he said with a smile after receiving his prize.

The two-day tournament, sponsored by Ran Motors, drew the largest number of participants this year, making it one of the most memorable events on the club’s calendar.

Nyanza Golf Club captain Julius Omolo praised the turnout and credited the sponsor for their support.
“We are delighted with the success of this event. Attracting 250 golfers is no small achievement, and we sincerely thank Ran Motors for partnering with us. This shows how vibrant golf is becoming in our region,” he noted.

The overall runners-up spot went to S. Omingo with 42 net, while Alice Gondi, also on 42 net, claimed second runners-up after countback.

In Division A, Joseph Lunani emerged winner on 39 net, with Peter Mogendi finishing runners-up with 37 net. Division B produced a tight contest, with Tom Odongo winning on 42 net after edging Edwin Mburu, who also carded 42 net, on countback.

Division C was equally dramatic, as Faith Nzomo beat Benson Magolo on countback, both finishing with 43 net.

The longest drive awards went to David Biegon in the men’s category and Hellen Muma among the ladies, while nearest to the pin honors were claimed by J. Oketch for men and Sharon Moraa for ladies.

The ball pool was shared between Oketch, Moraa, and Dr. Mburu, each collecting 33 balls.
The tournament was not only a showcase of competitive golf but also a celebration of growing participation in the sport in Kisumu.

For Nyerere, the victory was more than just a title—it was proof that belief, focus, and determination can outshine doubt.
