Gor Mahia FC vice president Sally Bolo has taken to social media to respond to accusations of her alleged role in the transfer of ex-Gor player defender and Kenya international Alphonse Omija, who joined Tunisia’s Étoile Sportive du Sahel recently.
In a statement titled My Roles at Salient Sports Management and Gor Mahia FC, posted on Facebook on September 21, Bolo sought to address the conversations regarding her roles as a Director of Salient Sports Management Limited, the agency that some Gor fans are claiming was involved in the transfer of the player, hence breaking the conflict of interest rules.
Below is the full statement:
I wish to address recent conversations regarding my roles as a Director of Salient Sports Management Limited, which I founded in 2021, and my election in April 2025 as Vice President of Gor Mahia Football Club.
There is no legal or regulatory restriction that prevents an individual from serving in football leadership while also managing a private business, provided there is no direct commercial relationship between the two entities. Neither Kenyan law nor FIFA/FKF regulations make it an offence for a club official to own or direct a private sports-management company.
Across the global football landscape, it is common for executives to maintain private enterprises, including player management, logistics, or sponsorship, as long as appropriate boundaries are respected. Salient Sports Management does not engage in any business with Gor Mahia FC since my election as Vice President. Our focus remains on supporting clubs, federations, organisations, and athletes across the region. I remain fully committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and professionalism in both capacities.
To safeguard good governance, I will continue to recuse myself from any discussions or decisions at Gor Mahia that could involve Salient Sports Management. My foremost priority is to serve the best interests of Gor Mahia FC while contributing positively to the wider growth of football.
Consistent with Article 19 of the FIFA Code of Ethics and the provisions of the FIFA Governance Regulations, I confirm that I have no business dealings with Gor Mahia FC. I remain committed to disclosing any potential related-party interests and stepping aside from decision-making whenever there is a risk — or even a perception — of conflict of interest.
Furthermore, as required by the FKF Constitution, I will always withdraw from deliberations or decisions where such a risk may arise. These practices reflect full compliance with FKF, CAF, and FIFA governance standards.
Ladies and gentlemen, I sincerely appreciate your support and understanding as we continue working together to grow the game.
