Prudential Life Kenya has announced a KES 10 million sponsorship for the 5km Family Run at this year’s Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon, reaffirming its long-standing commitment to promoting healthy living, family bonding, and community resilience.
In addition to sponsoring the family race, Prudential will serve as the official life insurer of the marathon, offering assurance and peace of mind to thousands of participants. By focusing on health and protection, the company aims to ensure runners feel confident and supported throughout their journey, allowing them to focus on what truly matters: crossing the finish line.
This marks the third consecutive year that Prudential Life Kenya is supporting the Family Run, underscoring its dedication to fostering healthier lifestyles through active living.
“We chose to sponsor the Family Run because it aligns with our vision of promoting healthier lifestyles and stronger communities. The 5KM race goes beyond competition — it’s about parents, children, and loved ones running side by side, creating a true celebration of family and togetherness,” said Prudential Kenya CEO, Gwen Kinisu.
“Beyond that, the run also supports the impactful work of Futuremakers, an initiative by Standard Chartered Bank that is empowering thousands of young people across the country,” added Kinisu.
The partnership was also celebrated and welcomed by Standard Chartered Kenya.
“Prudential Life’s sponsorship of the 5km Family Fun Run will go a long way in executing a memorable race while encouraging families to embrace wellness and active lifestyles. In addition to financial sponsorship, Prudential will provide comprehensive life insurance coverage to participants, adding a unique layer of support to the marathon,” said head of corporate affairs, brand and marketing at Standard Chartered Kenya and Africa, Joyce Kibe.
“With KES 130 million invested by the Bank towards this year’s event, we are focused on creating a world-class racing experience that drives social impact through our Futuremakers Initiative while also contributing positively to Kenya’s economy,” stated Kibe.
Futuremakers is Standard Chartered’s global initiative that equips young people with life skills, employability and entrepreneurship opportunities. So far, the program has empowered more than 90,000 girls with life skills through sports, supported over 54,000 youth with employment and business opportunities, and helped create over 1,380 jobs through supported enterprises.
The 2025 Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon, scheduled for October 26, 2025, will once again bring together elite athletes, fitness enthusiasts, families, and communities, making it Kenya’s largest single-day sporting event.
The Family Run remains one of the event’s most celebrated segments, encouraging inclusivity and unity by giving families and children an opportunity to participate in a world-class sporting event.
Through this partnership, Prudential Life Kenya continues to champion its mission of protecting families, inspiring healthier lifestyles, and building more resilient communities one step, one run, and one finish line at a time.
