It was a weekend of rivalries in LALIGA EA SPORTS, from ELCLASICO to the Valencian Community. Below comes a summary of the main results and the other headlines of the week.
Real Madrid win the first ELCLASICO of the season
All eyes were on the Bernabéu on Sunday afternoon, where Real Madrid overcame FC Barcelona 2-1 in the first ELCLASICO of the new season. Kylian Mbappé opened the scoring before a Fermín López equaliser. Then, Jude Bellingham pounced just before half-time and that proved to be the winning goal. It means Los Blancos now hold a five-point lead in the standings.
Villarreal CF take all three points in Mestalla
There was a derby in the Valencian Community in Matchday 10 and Villarreal CF came out on top away at Valencia CF. El Submarino Amarillo won 2-0, courtesy of goals from Gerard Moreno and Santi Comesaña, a victory which keeps them in third place.
Real Sociedad move out of the relegation zone
With Valencia CF dropping points, they’ve fallen into the relegation zone. That is also in part because of Real Sociedad’s 2-1 victory over Sevilla FC on Friday night. A Mikel Oyarzabal double earned La Real a much-needed three points, pulling them out of the bottom three.
Carlos Romero puts RCD Espanyol fourth
Currently sitting in fourth place are RCD Espanyol, who have continued their excellent start to the season. This weekend they earned a 1-0 victory over Elche CF, with Carlos Romero scoring the only goal of the game.
RC Celta secure their first win of the season
Every team in LALIGA EA SPORTS has now won a league game this season. The last winless team had been RC Celta, but the Galicians finally secured their first victory of the campaign on Sunday, with Ferran Jutglà and Pablo Durán leading them to a 3-2 triumph away at CA Osasuna.
Girona FC and Real Oviedo play out a thriller
Girona FC and Real Oviedo still occupy the bottom two places in the LALIGA EA SPORTS table, but each club picked up a point from their thrilling 3-3 draw on Saturday. Both sides held the lead at different stages, with a 97th-minute David Carmo goal ultimately rescuing a point for the Asturians.
Madrid teams enjoy victories over Basque opposition
There were two fixtures this weekend which pitted a team from the Community of Madrid against one from the Basque Country. And, the capital city sides won 1-0 on both occasions, as Getafe CF stunned Athletic Club at San Mamés and as Rayo Vallecano overcame Deportivo Alavés in Vallecas.
Spanish clubs are in good positions in Europe
There was a round of midweek European action too this past week, and several Spanish clubs achieved positive results. In fact, seven of the eight Spanish clubs competing in UEFA competitions this season are currently on track to progress to the knockout rounds.
The date for Valencia CF vs Levante UD is set
With Levante UD back in LALIGA EA SPORTS, this season will bring up the first Valencian city derby since 2022. And, now the date and kick-off time has been confirmed. Their first meeting of this season will take place on Friday November 21st, at 21:00 CET.
It’s time for the Copa del Rey
LALIGA EA SPORTS clubs are preparing for their first matches in the 2025/26 Copa del Rey. 16 of the 20 teams in the top division will begin their campaigns this coming midweek, all except the four Spanish Super Cup sides
