Édouard Mendy named Best Senegalese Player Abroad by National Sports Press Association

Senegal’s goalkeeper, Édouard Mendy, has been named the Best Senegalese Player Playing Abroad. The award was presented to him by the National Association of Sports Press of Senegal (ANPS).

The National Association of Sports Press of Senegal recently announced the winners of its awards for the 2024-2025 season. Among the recipients was Édouard Mendy.

In addition to the Senegalese goalkeeper, Issaga Kane was also honored as the best local footballer.

Édouard Mendy, goalkeeper for Al-Ahli, won the 2025 Jules François Bocandé Trophy with 162 votes, surpassing Pape Matar Sarr (116 votes) and Nicolas Jackson (109 votes).

This award recognizes an exceptional season, both at club and international level, where Mendy was crucial in Senegal’s qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2026 World Cup.

His achievements also include a victory in the Saudi Super Cup, where he was named best goalkeeper of the final. Scheduled for December 6, 2025, the official awards ceremony will bring together several prominent figures in Senegalese sport.

In addition to the football awards, other prizes will be awarded in various sporting disciplines.
