Uganda Premier League outfit Mbarara City FC have confirmed the dismissal of head coach Simon Peter Mugerwa with immediate effect, following a disappointing start to the current campaign.

The announcement was made on Tuesday, November 11, through the club’s official social media platforms, bringing Mugerwa’s tenure to an abrupt end.

“Mbarara City can confirm that a decision has been taken to relieve Simon Peter Mugerwa of his duties as head coach,” read part of the club’s statement.

The club further revealed that the entire technical team has also been relieved of their duties as part of a broader restructuring process aimed at reviving the team’s fortunes.

Mugerwa, who previously managed Police FC before joining the Ankole Lions, leaves the side after managing only two points from six league matches, registering two draws and four defeats.

His departure makes him the third coach to be dismissed this season, following Hussein Mbalangu (NEC FC) and Jimmy Kintu Mwera (Calvary FC).

Mbarara City is expected to name an interim technical team in the coming days as they look to bounce back from their early struggles in the league.
