Comoros have announced their final 26-man squad for the 2025 CAF Africa Cup of Nations, with head coach Stefano Cusin opting for stability while introducing two significant new faces ahead of the tournament in Morocco.

Cusin has retained the backbone of the side that competed in both the AFCON and 2026 World Cup qualifiers, signalling a clear commitment to continuity as Comoros attempt to establish themselves once again as one of Africa’s rising teams.

But the Italian tactician has also refreshed key areas of the squad. Zaid Amir and Yannis Kari, both of whom impressed at the 2025 Arab Cup with the Comoros A’ team, have been handed their first senior tournament selections.

Their inclusion marks a notable evolution in the national team’s long-term project, as Cusin seeks to inject youthful energy around an experienced core.

The squad features established leaders such as midfielder Youssouf M’Changama, who remains the heartbeat of Comoros’ creative play, and versatile forward Faïz Selemani, considered one of the team’s most decisive attacking weapons.

Goalkeeper Yannick Pandor also returns to the fold, joined by Ben Salim Boina and Adel Anzimati in a trio that has served the national side with consistency through the qualification cycle.

Defensively, Cusin has opted for a mix of maturity and ambition. Veterans like Kassim M’Dahoma and Akim Abdallah are included, while younger defenders Idriss Mohamed, Kenan Toibibou, and Ismaël Boura provide renewed dynamism.

The Coelacanths, who made history by reaching the AFCON knockout stages in 2021, will face hosts Morocco, Mali and Zambia in a demanding Group A.

Comoros open their campaign against Morocco on 21 December in Casablanca, a daunting start but one that Cusin believes can set the tone for the rest of their group-stage journey.

The team will complete their preparations with friendlies against Gambia and Madagascar.
