There are several interesting LALIGA EA SPORTS fixtures coming up this weekend as part of Matchday 19, the last round of action in the first half of this season.
FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atlético de Madrid and Athletic Club have all already played their Matchday 19 fixtures, since they’re competing in the Spanish Super Cup this week, but there are eight more league games to play this matchday and they’ll take place over Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

The first of these games is the Friday night duel between Getafe CF and Real Sociedad. The Basque side earned a 1-1 draw against Atlético de Madrid in new coach Pellegrino Matarazzo’s first game in charge and now they’ll seek a first win under the new manager at the Coliseum. It won’t be easy, though, as Getafe CF have only lost two of the past eight meetings between these clubs.
Four fixtures follow on Saturday, starting with Real Oviedo vs Real Betis. This is another fixture involving a relatively new manager, with Guillermo Almada having drawn both of his games so far in charge of Los Oviedistas. They’ll need more than draws to survive, though, as they currently sit bottom of the table.
Villarreal CF are the only member of the top four in action this weekend, so they’ll look to make up some ground on their title rivals when they host Deportivo Alavés at the Estadio de la Cerámica. El Submarino Amarillo are just one point away from securing their best ever points tally from the first half of a top-flight season, so will go out all for victory in Matchday 19.

With two wins in their last three, Girona FC have improved in recent weeks and have climbed out of the relegation zone. The Catalan outfit will look to stay there and to drag CA Osasuna into the relegation dogfight when these teams face off at the Estadi Montilivi on Saturday evening.
The Sunday night game is a Valencian Community derby, as Valencia CF and Elche CF face off at Mestalla. One club sits ninth and the other 18th and, perhaps surprisingly, it’s the newly promoted team who are in the top half while Valencia CF find themselves inside the relegation zone. That makes this a huge game.

There are just two games on Sunday, but two really fascinating ones. The first takes place in Vallecas, where Rayo Vallecano welcome RCD Mallorca to the Spanish capital. Sitting on 19 and 18 points respectively, in 14th and 16th position, these two clubs are currently safe but know that the relegation zone is just behind. It should be a fun battle as both sides chase what would be a much-welcomed three-point haul.
Levante UD and RCD Espanyol face off in the next game, with Los Pericos looking to bounce back from defeat in last weekend’s ELDERBI DE BARCELONA. They still sit fifth in the table, so remain in a good position for European qualification. As for Levante UD, the newly promoted side are second bottom, but they won last week in new coach Luis Castro’s debut and will hope to finish this first half of the season with some momentum.

Monday night’s match between Sevilla FC and RC Celta is the final fixture of Matchday 19, and it’s a coming together of two teams who hope to qualify for Europe this season. Their last meeting was a thrilling 3-2 win for RC Celta last May, which included three stoppage-time goals, so this one promises to be an entertaining game as well.
