The Royal Moroccan Football Federation has officially denied recent reports claiming that head coach Walid Regragui will leave his position before the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Speculation intensified suggesting that Regragui was considering stepping down following Morocco’s disappointment at the Africa Cup of Nations last January.

In a statement published on its official website, the Moroccan FA rejected the rumors, confirming that Regragui remains in charge of the Atlas Lions.

“The Royal Moroccan Football Federation denies the circulating news regarding its separation from coach Walid Regragui,” read the statement in part.

Earlier, Moroccan outlets reported that Regragui had informed close associates of his intention to step down before the upcoming World Cup. Meanwhile, Al Mountakhab newspaper claimed the coach is currently in France and had expressed to the federation’s president his reluctance to continue in his role.

This marks the second time the Moroccan FA has publicly dismissed reports about Regragui’s future, having previously issued a similar statement reaffirming his continuity amid growing speculation.

Regragui, who led Atlas Lions to a historic World Cup semi-final in 2022, remains under contract as preparations continue for the 2026 World Cup.
