LALIGA EA SPORTS Matchday 27 preview: Real Madrid travel to Vigo, and Barça visit Bilbao

LALIGA EA SPORTS is back this weekend, and Real Madrid will be glad to have another league fixture right away. Following their Monday night defeat at home to Getafe CF, Los Blancos are back in action on Friday, with an opportunity to return to winning ways away at RC Celta. It won’t be easy, though, with the Galicians in sixth place and having already defeated the club from the capital once this season.

Second-bottom Levante UD are also feeling the urgency, and they celebrated a victory last weekend. As such, they’ll hope to make it two in a row when they welcome Girona FC to the Estadi Ciutat de València. They achieved a remarkable 4-0 win away at the Catalan outfit earlier this campaign, so Los Granotes can approach this one with some level of confidence.

The second game of the matchday is a big one for the away team too, but in this case at the opposite end of the table. RCD Mallorca will hope to snap a run of four consecutive losses when they go away to CA Osasuna on Saturday, in what will be new coach Martín Demichelis’ first match in charge. The islanders are currently inside the relegation zone, so there is no time to waste as they seek a fresh start.

Next up is a preview of the Copa del Rey final, as Atlético de Madrid take on Real Sociedad. These two clubs just qualified for the final of this season’s cup competition, and they’ll have the chance to scout each other this Saturday evening at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano.

Athletic Club and FC Barcelona, meanwhile, were the two defeated semi-finalists in midweek. They’ll each look to bounce back when they face off in Bilbao on Saturday night, with the three points on offer proving extra valuable now for both these teams.

There is a Valencian Community derby to kick off Sunday’s slate of fixtures, with Elche CF making the trip to the north of the region to take on Villarreal CF. With Marcelino’s side fourth from the top and Eder Sarabia’s fourth from bottom, this is a duel between two clubs in quite different situations.

The action then moves to the Coliseum, where Getafe CF face off against Real Betis. Following their incredible win at the Bernabéu last matchday, Los Azulones will hope to build on that and keep climbing up the LALIGA EA SPORTS table.

Sevilla FC and Rayo Vallecano are in action next, a meeting of two clubs currently sitting 12th and 13th, level on 30 points. Although both these red and white teams are safe for now, they know that the relegation zone is just over their shoulders and that every victory is crucial. Valencia CF, in 15th, and Deportivo Alavés, in 16th, are in the same kind of position, so they too will be giving all they’ve got when they meet at Mestalla in the Sunday night game.

The final game of the matchday comes on Monday night, when RCD Espanyol and Real Oviedo face off. The last time the Asturian outfit visited the RCDE Stadium was in a LALIGA HYPERMOTION promotion playoff final in 2024, with Los Pericos coming out on top before Real Oviedo eventually won promotion the following season. Los Oviedistas currently sit bottom of the table, though, so know they likely need to come away with something positive from this trip if they want to avoid a return to Spanish football’s second tier.
