Wydad Athletic Club have moved swiftly following their exit from the CAF Confederation Cup, parting ways with head coach Mohamed Amine Benhachem after their quarter-final defeat to Olympique de Safi.
The decision came just a day after the elimination, underlining the urgency within the Casablanca giants to address growing concerns over performance.
In recent weeks, mounting pressure from supporters had intensified, with fans voicing frustration over inconsistent results and questioning the team’s technical direction amid high expectations.
The team’s official spokesperson, Talal, confirmed that a crucial meeting has been scheduled for Monday to determine the next course of action regarding the coaching position.
“If the name of the new coach is to be announced tomorrow, then contact with him took place ten days ago,” added Talal.

According to sources close to the matter, Benhachem’s fate was sealed from the final whistle of the match against OC Safi, marked by a painful elimination that highlighted Wydad’s limitations on the continental stage this season.
An official statement is expected in the coming hours to formalize the break and announce the end of Benhachem’s adventure on the Wydad bench.
The 50-year-old is an experienced coach in the scene of Moroccan football including spells with OC Safi after a playing career that included time spent with both Casablanca giants, Raja and Wydad. Before his time with WAC that began at the end of April 2025, Benhachem enjoyed success with Renaissance Club Athletic Zemamra (RCA Zemamra).
