On October 25–26, 2025, the Mother City will witness the long-awaited return of hillclimb racing as the Speed Classic Cape Town tears up Philip Kgosana Drive in a two-day invitational celebration of speed, heritage, and engineering brilliance. And if you want to be a part of it, now is the time.
Last seen in Cape Town in 1962, competitive hillclimb motorsport is back – and this time, it’s bigger, faster, and designed for the people of Cape Town.
Driver applications are now open at www.speedclassic.capetown, and with only 150 driver invites going out, organisers are urging racing hopefuls to enter before the 15 August deadline. Entries are already flying in, so don’t delay if you want a shot at conquering the mountain.
For the fans, General Access tickets are just R200, with kids aged 6–12 getting in for only R50, and children under 6 free. Tickets give you access to all standing spectator zones as well as the buzzing Race Village, where you’ll find plenty of seating, local food vendors, family entertainment, and front-row views of the action.
If you want to upgrade your experience, there are grandstand tickets available for R1,200 and various hospitality packages on offer. With excitement mounting and demand high, tickets are selling fast, so book now to avoid disappointment.
The Speed Classic Cape Town features two days of high-octane action:
- Classic Car Saturday (October 25): A display of vintage power and timeless design, from collectible gems to legendary race cars of yesteryear.
- King of the Mountain (October 26): A no-holds-barred battle of modern machines as drivers go full throttle over 1.8km of twisting road and 150m of vertical climb.
Sanctioned by Motorsport South Africa and supported by the City of Cape Town, the Speed Classic is more than a motorsport event; it’s a love letter to the spirit of racing, reborn in the heart of the city.
