The coastal city of Mombasa is buzzing with excitement as the Nyali Golf and Country Club prepares to host the First Assurance Golf Tournament this Saturday.
The event promises a full day of action, networking, and celebration as golfers from across the country converge for the latest leg of the First Assurance Golf Sports Tour.
The tournament is part of First Assurance Company Limited’s 95th anniversary celebrations under its First Things First campaign.
The initiative is designed to celebrate sportsmanship, strengthen partnerships, and highlight the company’s enduring legacy in Kenya’s insurance industry.
As a member of the Absa Bank family, First Assurance has cemented itself as a key player in the country’s financial sector, with a wide network of seven branches offering reliable general insurance services.

Through golf, the company is bringing together corporate partners, intermediaries, customers, and sports enthusiasts, fostering both business connections and community spirit.
The draw released earlier in the week shows an exciting mix of seasoned golfers, corporate executives, and passionate amateurs. Bruno Gerber, Luis Piecho, G. N Gakuo, and Truphena Oyaro will have the honor of teeing off at 7:10 AM from the first tee, while Dr. Omar Ramadhani, Fernando Marques, Salim Taib, and Amay Shah will kick things off from the tenth tee at the same time.
The morning session also features experienced players such as Sam Muraya, Rishi Dodhia, Martin Wainaina, and Sheel Dodhia (7:20 AM), alongside a competitive group including Harshil Shah, Brijesh Pattni, Niall Chauhan, and Feisal Sherman. Other notable names in the early rounds include Kailesh Chauhan, Shayne Shah, Rashid Sheikh, and Nikki Pattni, expected to set the tone with their skills.

The field will break after 8:40 AM before resuming again at 12:10 PM, when Willie Mbote, Shem Tubei, Justine Ongere, and Rose Kinyanjui lead the afternoon flight. The later groups include business leaders and rising golfers, such as Hitendra Halai, Wesley Bosuben, Raju Patel, and Feisal Mohamed, while Cyril Kitiwa, Marcel Ademayo, Kenneth Mosop, and Perviz Barnsley headline the tenth tee action.
The draw stretches until 2:00 PM, when the final pairings—Lumatete Muchai, Gurbux Singh, Feisal Lasker, and ANO on the first tee, and Fahmy Hamid, Arnold Njagi, Raajkamal Dhanjal, and Q Somji on the tenth tee—bring the curtain down on what promises to be an exciting competition.
For First Assurance, the tournament is about more than birdies and pars. It is a chance to interact with stakeholders in a relaxed and fun environment, celebrating values that resonate in both business and sport—discipline, resilience, and excellence.
“This tour is about celebrating our 95 years of service to Kenyans,” said a company official during the launch of the Golf Sports Tour. “We are proud to use golf as a platform to connect with our clients, partners, and the community. It is a sport that requires focus and integrity, the same qualities that define our business.”

By staging the Nyali Golf Event, First Assurance is also reaffirming its commitment to strengthening community ties. The tournament is expected to attract not only golfers but also families, corporate teams, and customers, making it a vibrant gathering on and off the course.
Over the years, First Assurance has positioned itself as more than an insurer, actively engaging in initiatives that empower communities. The Nyali event reflects this vision—an opportunity to celebrate trust and shared values built over nearly a century.
As golfers prepare to take to the lush fairways of Nyali, excitement is running high. With a competitive draw, corporate flavor, and the promise of memorable networking, the First Assurance Golf Tournament will be one of the highlights of Kenya’s 2025 golfing calendar.
