The Namibia Rugby Union (NRU) announced on Tuesday the appointment of former South African player and coach Pieter Rossouw as the national team’s attacking consultant.

This strategic move comes as Namibia prepares for the upcoming World Cup Final Qualifier tournament, scheduled to take place in Dubai from November 8 to 18.

In a statement, the NRU highlighted that Rossouw, who is widely respected for his attacking vision and tactical expertise, brings extensive experience at the highest level of the game. He has represented South Africa as a player and has made significant contributions as a coach with top professional teams.

“His appointment is part of the NRU’s strategic preparations to ensure the national team is fully equipped to compete at the highest standard as they pursue qualification for the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia,” the NRU added.

Rossouw will join the technical team immediately, collaborating with the Director of Rugby and coaching staff to refine Namibia’s attacking structures and execution ahead of the tournament.

The final repechage tournament in Dubai will feature a four-team round-robin competition, with only one team securing the last available ticket to the 2027 Rugby World Cup.
