GROUP A – Berkane and Pyramids make early statement
RS Berkane and defending champions Pyramids FC produced emphatic 3–0 victories to take early control of Group A.
In Berkane, the Moroccan champions overwhelmed Power Dynamos thanks to an early own goal from Aaron Katebe, a sharp finish from Mounir Chouiar, and Paul Bassène’s second-half penalty.
Hours later in Cairo, Pyramids delivered an equally commanding performance, beating Rivers United 3–0 with a superb hat-trick from Ahmed Atef El Sayed.
Two quick goals early in the second half broke the Nigerian side’s resistance before Atef completed his treble.

GROUP B – Al Ahly impress, Yanga edge FAR Rabat
Record champions Al Ahly opened their campaign with a dominant 4–1 win over JS Kabylie in Cairo.
Trezeguet scored twice, Mohamed Sherif added another, and a late Kabylie own goal sealed a convincing victory.
Young Africans also made a strong start, defeating FAR Rabat 1–0 at a neutral venue in Dar es Salaam thanks to Prince Dube’s instinctive second-half finish.

Al Hilal earned a gritty 2–1 victory over MC Alger in Kigali. Goals from Abdelrazek Omar and Mohamed Abdelrahman (“Al Gharbal”) secured the points despite Hilal finishing with 10 men.

GROUP D – Petro Atlético go top after Simba slip at home
Petro Atlético earned the only away victory of Matchday 1, defeating Simba 1–0 in Dar es Salaam through Benny’s late strike, finishing coolly after a move involving Tiago Reis.
Elsewhere, Esperance and Stade Malien drew 0–0 in Tunis, leaving Petro as the early leaders in Group D.
