The Angola Football Federation has confirmed the departure of head coach Patrice Beaumelle, bringing his tenure with the national team to an end. The federation said it will announce his successor in due course.
The 47-year-old French tactician had signed a two-year deal to take over from Portuguese coach Pedro Gonçalves, marking his return to the helm of the Palancas Negras 15 years after his previous stint.
“The Angolan Football Federation (FAF) informs that, by mutual agreement and amicably, the termination of the contract has been set with coach Patrice Beaumelle, who is leaving the technical command of the national team and will, in the coming days, assume a new professional commitment at an African club,” the statement from the federation read in part.
“After being presented to us this claim, the decision was made following a deep, thoughtful and consensual evaluation between the parties.”
“It is important to note that throughout his career as the technical command of the Palancas Negras, Patrice Beaumelle distinguished himself for his professionalism, dedication and passion with which he embraced the challenge of serving Angolan football.”
“The FAF expresses its sincere thanks to the coach and his entire technical staff for the commitment, dedication and mission spirit shown at all times, recognizing the high human and professional value they have placed in the service of the country.”
“The governing body of Angolan football reaffirms its commitment to transparency, stability and building a strong, competitive and capable team to represent Angola with pride and dignity.
“Soon, the FAF will provide more information on the next steps for the national team,” the statement concluded.
Beaumelle had returned to Angola, where he had previously worked as Hervé Renard’s deputy when the country hosted the Africa Cup of Nations finals in 2010.
