Ruiru Sports Club is set to come alive this weekend as over 300 golfers converge for the much-anticipated Chairman’s Prize Golf Tournament scheduled for 21 March 2026.

The flagship event marks one year in office for club chairman Jessy Ndegwa and promises a week-long celebration of golf, camaraderie, and sport.

The festivities teed off earlier in the week with a caddies and staff tournament on Monday, followed by a lively Mini Club Night on Tuesday, 17 March. The action continues with a Pro-Am event on Wednesday, while Thursday, 19 March, will feature the Chairman’s Prize curtain-raiser, incorporating other sporting disciplines such as bowling.

Saturday’s main event will see golfers tee off as early as 6:30 a.m., with high expectations for a competitive and entertaining day on the course. The celebrations will culminate on Sunday, 22 March, with a junior golf event aimed at nurturing young talent.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, Chairman Jessy Ndegwa said: “This tournament is not just a celebration of my one year in office, but a reflection of the growth and unity we have built as a club. We are delighted to host over 300 golfers and partners who continue to support our vision of making Ruiru a premier golfing destination.”

The event has attracted strong corporate backing, with sponsors including KCB Bank as the main sponsor, alongside partners such as Maridady Motors, Applied Principles Consulting, East African Breweries Limited, Inchcape, Unicolor, and Kwetu Place.

“The course is in pristine condition. Our greens are well maintained, the fairways are lush, and we are ready to offer golfers a true test of skill. We expect a highly competitive field and an enjoyable tournament for players of all levels,” noted Captain Justus Mathenge.

Ruiru Sports Club, which has grown into a hub for prestigious golf events, including the KCB Golf Tour, the Pendant Tournament, KLGU events, and the Lady Captain’s Prize, continues to showcase its capacity to host large and memorable competitions.

Ruiru Sports Club is a private member-owned corporate andfamily-oriented club with an elite and culturally diverse membership.
