Egypt announce squad for Spain and Saudi Arabia friendlies

The technical staff of the Egypt national team, led by Hossam Hassan, have announced the squad for the March training camp, which kicks off on March 22nd as part of preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The list was notably missing captain Mohamed Salah, who has been ruled out due to the injury he sustained during Liverpool FC’s clash against Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League last .

The squad features several fresh inclusions, including goalkeeper Mohamed Alaa from El Gouna FC, Tarek Alaa of ZED FC (on loan from Pyramids FC), and Haitham Hassan, who earns his first-ever call-up while playing for Real Oviedo. Meanwhile, Mohamed Abdelmonem returns after recovering from an ACL injury that had sidelined him since April.

Eight players who were part of Egypt’s AFCON squad under Hassan have been left out this time, including Mohamed Sobhi, Ahmed El Shenawy, Mohamed Hamdy, Ahmed Eid, Mohamed Shehata, Mostafa Fathi, Salah Mohsen, and Osama Faisal.

On the other hand, Nasser Mansi returns after a previous call-up in 2022 under Rui Vitória without making an appearance, while Islam Issa is also back after his last involvement with the national team in a friendly against Liberia.
