Kenya’s KPC Volleyball Club kicked off the 2026 CAVB Women’s African Volleyball Club Championship with an impressive victory against Ghana’s Kalibi Sports Club (KSC), securing a decisive 3-0 win in their opening match in Pool A.
KPC showcased their strength and skill, winning each set with scores of 25-19, 25-21, and 25-13, demonstrating their dominance on the court right from the start. The match highlighted KPC’s solid teamwork, strategic plays, and powerful spikes, leaving the KSC team struggling to keep pace.
In the first set, KPC quickly established control, leveraging their strong serves and accurate attacks to secure a comfortable lead. KSC attempted to mount a comeback but ultimately fell short as KPC maintained their focus and composure.
The second set saw KSC rallying with better defence and improved coordination, but KPC’s relentless offensive efforts proved too much to handle. The Kenyan club closed the set with a series of powerful serves that kept KSC on the back foot.
By the third set, KPC was fully in command, showcasing their superior fitness and tactics. With a series of swift, clean plays, they surged to a 25-13 victory, solidifying their place as a team to watch in this year’s tournament.
KPC will also play La Loi (DR Congo), Sococim (Senegal), and Gender Light (Burundi) in group B matches.
On 12 April, the official technical meeting led by the President of the African Volleyball Confederation, Bouchra Hajij, was held at Al Ahly Sporting Club, bringing together all participating teams to confirm fixtures, rules, and final tournament preparations.
Established in 1984, the KPC ladies’ volleyball team competes in the local Kenya Volleyball Federation League as well as in African competitions, including the Club Championships. The team boasts a wealth of talent, with its players representing Kenya as part of the Malkia Strikers in various international competitions.
