World Athletics U20 Championships Oregon 26 ranked best ever edition – and numbers don’t lie

Five action-packed days of the World Athletics U20 Championships Oregon 26 came to an end on Sunday, 9 August, and based on competition ranking, it was the best ever edition of the global age-group event.

The 21st World U20 Championships, held at Eugene’s Hayward Field from 5-9 August, featured six world U20 records, 11 championship records and 17 area U20 records.

A total of 1659 athletes from 137 countries participated. Of those, 42 countries won medals and 24 countries won gold medals.

Multiple medallists included USA’s Tate Taylor, who won gold in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m, and Jamaica’s Shanoya Douglas, gold medallist in the 4x100m and silver medallist in the 100m and 200m.
