KCB Group emerged overall champions at the Kenya Bankers Association Interbank Games 2026, which concluded last week, after an impressive campaign that saw the bank collect 1,463 points, 10 gold medals, six silver medals and five bronze medals.
KCB finished ahead of Equity Bank Kenya, which secured second place with 1,426 points, while Absa Bank Kenya took third place with 1,365 points. The competition brought together 40 financial institutions for three weeks of sporting action across various venues in Nairobi.
The games featured a wide range of disciplines, including football, volleyball, basketball, chess, lawn tennis, table tennis, scrabble, checkers, tug of war, netball, athletics, swimming and golf. KCB delivered strong performances across the events, collecting titles and podium finishes that contributed to its overall victory.
One of the bank’s standout performances came from the swimming team, which finished top of the women’s standings with 17,900 points, more than doubling its 2025 tally of 7,110 points. KCB finished over 10,000 points ahead of the second-placed team, which scored 7,285 points, underlining its strength in the pool and its strong record in previous editions of the competition.
KCB also dominated tug of war, with both the men’s and women’s teams claiming the championship titles after defeating Absa Bank Kenya in their respective finals. The double victory added two more titles to the bank’s campaign and highlighted the teams’ strong performances in one of the competition’s most closely contested events.

In checkers, KCB’s men’s team finished top of the standings to claim the title. The bank also recorded strong results in badminton, where the women’s team finished first and the men’s team secured third place, giving KCB podium finishes in both categories.
The golf team finished second behind NCBA Bank, while the women’s netball team also secured second place after losing 34–21 to Equity Bank in the final. In volleyball, the women’s team finished runners-up following a narrow defeat to PostBank in the championship match.
KCB also finished third in table tennis and fourth in men’s chess and men’s lawn tennis, adding valuable points to its overall tally. The bank’s performances across the different disciplines reflected its broad participation and ability to compete for honours in several sporting categories.
Beyond the main sporting events, KCB won the match past competition and the best-dressed team award, earning additional recognition during the games. The bank also participated in the corporate run, which brought together employees from the participating institutions.
In the CEOs Run, KCB Group Chief Executive Officer and Kenya Bankers Association Chairman Paul Russo finished second, behind GTBank Kenya Managing Director Jubril Adeniji, who took first place. I&M Bank Chief Executive Officer Abdi Mohamed finished third.
The senior managers’ run also formed part of the competition, providing another opportunity for leaders from the financial services sector to participate in the games alongside their colleagues.
The KBA Interbank Games provide a platform for employees across the financial services industry to engage in sport, showcase their abilities and connect with colleagues beyond their everyday work.
