China PR v France
China PR are one of four teams that secured all nine points available during the group stage, having defeated Kenya, Samoa, and USA. Their victory over the States secured them top spot in Group E, and was testament to the quality Ma Xiaoxu possesses at the sharp end of the pitch. France, for their part, qualified with two clean-sheet victories from three, but know their only defeat so far came against another Asian nation in the shape of Japan.
Nigeria v Mexico
This pair rallied during the opening round by recovering from opening-day defeats to advance. Nigeria fell to Poland, but defeated Puerto Rico before pulling off a seismic upset by sinking DPR Korea 3-1 to take second spot in Group B. Mexico, meanwhile, fell to Spain and were a goal down to Chile in their second match, but dug deep to win that tussle 3-1 before edging Australia thanks to a goal from inspirational captain Citlalli Reyes.
Japan v Kenya
After defeats to China PR and USA, Kenya entered the final matchday of the group stage needing a big win to qualify. They did just that, defeating Samoa 4-0 thanks to a brace from the lively Mwanakombo Bakari to squeeze through as the fourth-best third-placed side. Their reward is a bout with Japan who were watertight during the opening round, advancing as the only team to win all of their matches without conceding. The AFC giants were particularly impressive in their opener against another African side, as they dispatched Zambia 5-0.
Spain v USA
USA demonstrated their potency during the group stage, finding the back of the net an unmatched 25 times and are now just one goal off the full-tournament record. They will tackle a Spain side which enter the Round of 16 undefeated, with multiple players contributing goals and only two conceded in the opening round.
