The organisers of Mutuini Half Marathon in Nairobi are inviting running and fitness enthusiasts to register for the 2024 edition of the road run that will take place at Kirigu Primary School in Mutuini Ward, near Dagoretti Market, on 28 April.
Now in its fifth edition, the marathon is open to general public and corporates teams, with proceeds from the event going to support education, care and feeding programmes at Mutuini Hope Centre, a charitable organisation in Dagoretti South, Nairobi.
“We run every April to ensure that the children in the care of Mutuini Hope Centre stay in school throughout,” Mutuini Hope Centre founder and area ward representative Martin Mbugua said.
“The reason we run every April in Mutuini is to ensure that orphans and vulnerable children get opportunity to go to school up to college. Just like other children in our community.
“From previous runs we have paid school fees for over 300 students. Currently we are educating 31 students in secondary schools and 140 in lower primary up to junior high through this event.
“So whether you will run or not next Sunday, your contribution of any amount will help a child you may never meet stay in school.
“I thank all who have registered. You are free to make a donation towards the centre even if you won’t be able to join the run. The medal below awaits you as a reminder of your contribution to making this a better world.”
