Chad’s youth shines at Dream Comes True basketball camp

Date:

It is that time of year again – the Dream Comes True (DCT) Basketball Camp is back for its third edition, promising hope, opportunity, and the chance for young Chadian athletes to chase their dreams on the hardwood.

From June 14th to 16th, the gymnasium transformed into a sanctuary for basketball enthusiasts, as Chad’s current and former international players rallied together to mentor a new generation of talent.

Among them stood Asnal Alain Noubaramadje, a towering figure both in stature and spirit, whose leadership on and off the court during the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup African Qualifiers had inspired many.

“For one week, we received all the training candidates in groups of 10,” Noubaramadje explained, his voice brimming with enthusiasm. “We test them on defensive exercises, ball handling, and more. It’s about finding those who are not just athletically gifted but also possess the dedication and hunger to excel.”

The goal of DCT was clear – to equip young players with the technical prowess and tactical acumen necessary to thrive in the competitive world of basketball.

Beyond the dribbles and dunks, the camp fostered a culture of mentorship, where seasoned coaches shared their wisdom and experiences, molding raw talent into polished gems.

But for Noubaramadje and his fellow mentors, DCT is more than just a basketball camp – it is a beacon of hope for a nation eager to make its mark on the global stage. “Young Chadians don’t often take part in international basketball camps,” he lamented.

“We’re playing catch-up in terms of training and facilities. DCT is our way of leveling the playing field, of giving our youth the same opportunities as their counterparts around the world.”

The Dream Comes True Basketball Academy is more than just a sports organization; it is a lifeline for many aspiring athletes, offering not only training in the game they loved but also emphasizing the importance of academic success.

“Basketball is our passion, but education is our foundation,” Noubaramadje emphasized, his eyes alight with conviction. “We want our young athletes to excel both on and off the court, to become leaders in their communities and ambassadors for our country.”

As the sun set on the final day of DCT, a sense of camaraderie filled the air, mingling with the unmistakable buzz of anticipation.

For the selected few who had earned their place in the camp, this is just the beginning of their journey – a journey fueled by passion, guided by mentors, and illuminated by the promise of a brighter future.

In the years to come, their names would grace the rosters of national teams, their skills dazzling audiences on courts around the world.

But no matter how far they traveled or how high they soared, they would always remember where it began – on the courts of Lycée Sacre-Coeur, where dreams came true, and a nation’s pride soared with every dribble.
