Kenyan Esports prodigy Njoroge aims for glory in Global Esports Games debut

Kenyan esports star Joseph Njoroge has sets his sights on a place in the knockouts as he makes his debut at the Global Esports Games set for 12-17 December in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Hunni Haven, as he is fondly known, has been pooled in Group A alongside competitors from Kuwait, Malaysia, Turkiye, United Arab Emirates, Algeria, Tunisia and Nigeria.

“I have been training well and I have also analyzed the opponents, I believe I have what it takes to make my nation proud. I just want to make it our of the group first then from there anything can happen,” he said before departing for Riyadh on Saturday night.

Team manager Brian Ochanda called for focus and concentration. “It is important that we take one game at a time. Every gamer who made this far is a good gamer. Concentration and focus will be key and we are very confident with Njoroge.”

Kenya shall also have representation in the women dota2 category, with the team, who are African champions, expected to depart on Monday, 11 December under the tutelage of coach Allan ‘Serge’ Gitau for what shall be their second appearance at the global showpiece.
