African Games 2023: Senegal to renew rivalry with Nigeria in March

Senegal is set to renew its football rivalry with Nigeria after both teams were drawn into Group B of the African Games Accra 2023.

The draw, conducted on Thursday in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, revealed the composition of the men’s and women’s divisions for the 13th edition of this multi-sport continental event scheduled for 8 to 24 March.

In the women’s division, host nation Ghana finds itself in Group A alongside Tanzania, Ethiopia, and the emerging force of Uganda.

Meanwhile, Group B promises intense competition as Nigeria and Senegal, traditional football powerhouses, are joined by formidable opponents Cameroon and Morocco, creating a challenging path to the knockout stages.

On the men’s side, Group A consists of host Ghana, The Gambia, Benin, and Congo, the inaugural edition winners. Group B, however, stands out as a highly competitive pool featuring Nigeria, South Sudan, Senegal, Uganda, and Tunisia.

With an array of football talent on display, this group is expected to deliver thrilling clashes as teams vie for the top two spots to advance in the tournament.

As the African Games Accra 2023 draw sets the stage for exciting football action, fans eagerly anticipate the showdown between Senegal and Nigeria, adding a layer of intensity to an already highly anticipated tournament.
