AFCON: Nigeria’s Ahmed Musa confident of victory in final against hosts Cote d’Ivoire

Date:

In a heartening revelation to the CAF website, Ahmed Musa, one of the most experienced members of Nigeria’s national football team, expressed optimism about the Super Eagles’ chances in the upcoming African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023 final.

The decisive match is set to take place against Cote d’Ivoire, the host nation, on Sunday at the Alassane Ouattara Olympic Stadium of Ebimpe.

Following a nail-biting semi-final against South Africa, which saw the Super Eagles secure their final spot through a 4-2 penalty shootout after the match ended in a 1-1 draw, Musa’s confidence has been sky-high.

The semi-final clash, held last Wednesday in Bouake, showcased the resilience and tactical prowess of the Nigerian team.

Cote d’Ivoire, on the other hand, earned their final berth with a slender 1-0 victory over DR Congo, setting the stage for what promises to be an electrifying final.

Musa, who played a pivotal role in Nigeria’s 2013 AFCON triumph in South Africa, is eyeing his second continental crown.

“We are very focused as a team, and we will be executing our abilities as expected,” he stated, highlighting the team’s preparation and determination to succeed.

“We’re ready as a team to deliver for the fans. The most important thing is for us to win the tournament because we are the most deserving as of now to win it. The Nigerian community deserves the happiness and unity that come with becoming champions of the Nations Cup.”

As the Super Eagles gear up for the showdown on Sunday, Musa’s leadership and experience will be crucial in their quest for gold, aiming to bring joy and unity to the Nigerian community through victory.
