As the sands of Dubai prepare to host the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup from 15 to 25 February, Africa’s finest, Senegal and Egypt, are set to carry the continent’s aspirations on their shoulders. The tournament, now in its 13th edition, will witness the participation of 16 nations, with Senegal and Egypt representing the pride and talent of African beach soccer.
Their qualification comes on the back of remarkable performances at the CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations in Mozambique in 2022, where Senegal emerged victorious and Egypt finished as commendable runners-up.
Egypt is poised to begin their World Cup journey in Group A alongside hosts UAE, Italy, and the USA, opening their campaign against the UAE. This initial clash, followed by tough encounters with Italy and the USA, presents a formidable challenge but also an opportunity to showcase their prowess on the international stage.
Meanwhile, Senegal, slotted into Group C, will face Belarus, Colombia, and Japan, aiming to go beyond their near-podium finish in the previous edition in Russia, where they narrowly missed a bronze medal.
The story of Senegal and Egypt at this year’s FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup is not just about competition; it’s about the spirit of Africa striving for glory on the global stage. With both teams keen to make a mark, the tournament promises to be a showcase of skill, determination, and the dream of achieving a historic podium finish for the continent.
