FIFA Ranking: Nigeria surges to third in Africa in latest list

In a stunning rise up the FIFA Rankings, Nigeria has emerged as a force to be reckoned with in African football. The latest March 2024 rankings reveal a significant climb for the Super Eagles, who now sit proudly in third place on the continent and 30th in the world.

This surge follows their impressive performance as finalists in the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations.

Nigeria’s ascent to the top three in Africa sees them nipping at the heels of Senegal and Morocco, with the latter holding firm at 13th globally. Senegal, meanwhile, continues to impress at 17th in the world, maintaining their second-place spot in Africa.

The African champions, Cote d’Ivoire, have also made strides, moving up to 38th in the world and securing the fifth spot in Africa, just behind Egypt.

North African powerhouses Tunisia and Algeria hold steady in the rankings at 41st and 43rd globally, respectively, while Mali has edged up three places to 44th.

On the global stage, Argentina leads the pack, followed closely by France and Belgium. However, it’s Nigeria’s rise that captures the imagination, signaling a new era of competitiveness for African football. With a youthful and talented squad, Nigeria’s climb up the rankings sets the stage for exciting challenges ahead.

Football fans across Africa eagerly anticipate what’s next for the Super Eagles as they continue their ascent in the beautiful game.
