KCB FC has announced the appointment of Patrick Odhiambo as the new head coach on a one-year contract, effective 15 July ahead of the 2024/2025 FKF Premier League season. Odhiambo takes over from Bernard Mwalala, who has left the Bankers to pursue personal interests.
Odhiambo’s appointment aligns with the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) directive requiring all FKFPL head coaches to possess a CAF A or an equivalent “PRO or A” coaching license. Odhiambo meets these criteria, holding CAF A, B, and C licenses.
Odhiambo is well-regarded in local and regional football, having served in various coaching capacities at Prisons FC, Western Stima, Muhoroni Youth, Sony Sugar, Chemilil Sugar, and Tanzania Premier League side Biashara United. Additionally, he was the assistant coach at Gor Mahia FC. His most recent role was at Kakamega Homeboyz FC, where he guided the team to its first silverware, winning the FKF Cup in the 2022/2023 season.
KCB FC Patron Azu Ogola expressed optimism about the new appointment, stating, “We are committed to establishing a strong team that will dominate the local scene and go beyond to regional competitions. With the appointment of Patrick Odhiambo, we are confident that we will achieve greater milestones in the new season.”
Ogola also acknowledged Bernard Mwalala for his contributions, particularly for leading the team to the FKF Cup final during the 2023/24 season. With the transfer window currently open, KCB plans to bolster its squad in key areas to build on last season’s successes and enhance its competitiveness for the upcoming campaign.
As the new season approaches, KCB supporters eagerly anticipate the impact Odhiambo will bring to the team, hoping for a successful and trophy-laden 2024/2025 season.
