Kenya: Ruiru Golf Club set to host 320 players in spectacular Legendary tournament

Date:

Over 320 golfers from various clubs across the country are set to compete in the highly anticipated Annual Legendary Golf Tournament, scheduled for this Saturday at the par 73 Ruiru Golf Course.

This iconic event, which draws both professional and amateur golfers, promises to be a thrilling spectacle for participants and fans alike.

The Legendary Golfers, a multi-disciplinary group of professionals united by their passion for the sport, have organized the tournament with top-tier prizes up for grabs.

The day-long event will offer a mix of competitive golfing action and a fun-filled atmosphere, concluding with live band music in the evening, providing entertainment for players and spectators.

The 18-hole Ruiru course, which has been prepared for peak conditions, will see its first round of tee-offs at 6:40 a.m., while the afternoon session will begin between 10:50 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

The tournament is powered by corporate sponsors including First Assurance, Floor Knight, Gelian Hotel Machakos, Ngambi Fresh, and Kwetu Real Estate.

“We are delighted to host some of the biggest names in the sport this weekend during the Legendary Golf Day in Ruiru,” said Ruiru Club Captain, JK Muraguri.

“We have partnered with some of the top corporate brands to organize this amazing event, and the winners will take home top prizes. Our course is in great shape, and the greens provide the perfect setting for competitive play.”

Among the key golfers to watch will be Rhodah Mukami, who recently triumphed in the IPF golf tournament at the same venue, scoring 41 stableford points to claim victory over 240 other amateurs. Mukami, eager to build on her recent success, is confident heading into the weekend.

“I’m looking forward to picking up from where I left,” said Mukami. “It’s going to be a tough battle against the best golfers in the country, but with my experience and form, I believe I’ll emerge victorious. My swing is in top shape, and I’m ready to make an impact from the start.”

Other notable competitors include single-handicap players Bernard Omondi, Joe Muendo, and Beatrice Waweru, who are all expected to challenge for the top positions in what promises to be a tightly contested tournament.

The Legendary Golf Tournament is part of the Ruiru Sports Club’s series of events for 2024, which have seen corporate entities like IPF host previous tournaments at the Thika Road-based facility, further solidifying Ruiru’s reputation as a premier golfing destination.
