Ugandan forward James Ssemambo is determined to make his mark in the FKF Premier League after joining Nairobi City Stars during the offseason.
Ssemambo, who previously played in the Uganda Premier League for Kyetume FC and helped Bumamuru FC win the Burundi league in 2023, made his Kenyan top-flight debut as a second-half substitute in the match against Bidco United on September 14, 2024, at Dandora Stadium.
Speaking after his debut, Ssemambo reflected on the differences he has noticed between the FKF Premier League and the leagues he has previously played in.
“In my first game, I can already see a lot of difference from the Burundi and Ugandan leagues. The physicality and the speed of the game here are top-notch,” Ssemambo noted.
The 24-year-old forward is focused on adapting quickly to the higher demands of Kenyan football as he seeks to secure more playing time. “I will now work towards adapting to the new situation soonest as I chase more games, more so, starts,” he added.
Ssemambo is one of several newcomers to Simba wa Nairobi this season, joining alongside center-back Brian Opinde, left-back Stephen Bulugu, and winger Andre Kalama. With his experience in two competitive leagues, Ssemambo is expected to bring a fresh attacking edge to Nairobi City Stars as they aim for a strong showing in the 2024-2025 season.
As he adjusts to the FKF Premier League, Ssemambo’s speed and eye for goal will be vital assets for Nairobi City Stars, with fans eager to see what the Ugandan international can offer in the coming games.
