Welcome to our Fantasy Premier League (FPL) guide for Gameweek six. Each Gameweek, we highlight top picks to help you make the best decisions for your FPL team.

A fixture swing for Arsenal sees significant activity in the transfer market as managers look towards a triple-up on their players ahead of home games against promoted Leicester City and Southampton.

BEST FPL TEAM AHEAD OF GAME WEEK 6

FORMATION: 3:4:3

GOALKEEPER: Mark Flekken
The Seagull’s shot stopper offers the security of save points at home to the Hammers. Flekken has made at least five saves in each of his five appearances, earning two save points on three of those occasions.

DEF: Gabriel (Arsenal)
Arsenal’s Gabriel has produced 22 points in the last two gameweeks alone, scoring in back-to-back games to reward his owners who kept the faith for away trips to Spurs and Manchester City. He is the most-purchased defender, as Arsenal looks to continue their unbeaten start to the season against Leicester City.

DEF: Trent Alexander Arnold (Liverpool)
The Red’s right-back can provide managers with multiple routes to returns at the Molineaux. Alexander-Arnold has blanked only once this season, combining an assist with four clean sheets and four bonus points.

DEF: Ola Aina (Nottingham Forest)
The Forest full-back has collected five bonus points across the two matches in which he has kept a clean sheet this season. Aina could be in line for more success against a Fulham side who have had a mere two big chances situations in which the player is expected to score across their two away matches.

MID: Bukayo Saka (Arsenal)
Saka has notched an FPL return in every appearance this season (one goal, five assists) with only Palmer (36), Salah (49) and Diaz (51) notching more FPL points than his 35 amongst midfielders. He is also ranked third for shots on target (seven) and expected assists. Arsenal have scored eight goals (sixth) but have played two games with 10 men after sending offs against Brighton and Man City.

MID: Cole Palmer (Chelsea)
Cole Palmer appears to be the best route into an exciting Chelsea attack, given that his playing time in the Premier League is secure due to his omission from their Europa League Conference squad. Chelsea has scored 11 goals this season, just two fewer than leaders Manchester City, with Palmer contributing to six of those involvements. Manager Enzo Maresca views him as their main playmaker in the number ten role, and he should also remain on penalties after a flawless record from the spot last season.

MID: Kai Havertz (Arsenal)
Kai Havertz looks set to continue in the number nine role for Arsenal, despite injuries and suspensions hitting the Gunners’ midfield. He’s produced attacking returns in each home game so far this season and now has the potential to push on for their fixture swing. He’s now up to 21 goal involvements from 24 appearances in 2024, with a significant increase in his output when playing high and central.

MID: Antoine Semenyo (Bournemouth)
Semenyo’s total of 24 shots is top amongst midfielders with only B. Johnson (15) and Salah (16) attempting more shots in the box than his 14. Bournemouth have only scored five goals (12) but their underlying numbers are very strong, only Spurs (86) and Man City (99) have taken more shots than their 84. They are ranked fourth for xG. Their opponents Southampton have conceded nine goals with only Everton and Wolves (14 each) faring worse. The Saints are ranked 15th for shots conceded (79).

FWD: Nicolas Jackson (Chelsea)
Jackson delivered for his backers with a 16-point FPL haul against West Ham, the Senegalese international is behind only Cunha (14) and Haaland (26) for shots amongst forwards and third for both xG and big chances (six). Chelsea are ranked second for goals scored (11) and seventh for ‘big chances’ (15). Their visitors Brighton have conceded four goals (third) and have kept two clean sheets.

FWD: Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa)CAPTAIN
Watkins scored his third goal of the season against Wolves last weekend and latest statistics show over the first five Gameweeks, he is behind only Haaland for shots in the box, big chances and expected goals. Villa have scored 10 goals with only Chelsea (11) and Man City (13) more prolific. Their hosts Ipswich have conceded eight goals and have kept just one clean sheet on the road.

FWD: Erling Haaland (Man City)
It’s incredible that the Norwegian has already hit double digits for goals this season, and we are only five Gameweeks in. He is the only player to score in every single Premier League game this campaign. He was rested in the League Cup this midweek and so should be fresh for the trip to Newcastle United.
