Gameweek 20 of the 2024/2025 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) season is shaping up to be an exciting one, with a number of key fixtures that could influence both player selections and point hauls. As the season progresses, managers are beginning to fine-tune their squads, balancing form with upcoming fixtures and injuries.
This Gameweek provides a blend of high-scoring opportunities and potential pitfalls, requiring managers to strike the right balance between form, fixture difficulty and squad depth.
Gameweek 20 also marks a critical point in the season, as managers begin focusing on longer-term strategies for the second half of the season.
FORMATION: 4:3:3
GOALKEEPER: Matz Sels (Nottingham Forest)
The Nottingham Forest goalkeeper has climbed to the top of the ‘keeper standings on the back of three straight clean sheets. Sels looks primed for another shutout against a Wolves side who are without their suspended talisman Matheus Cunha on Monday night.
DEF: Gabriel (Arsenal)
The Brazilian center-half is in fine form at both ends of the pitch. He has blanked just once in his last six outings, combining a goal and two assists with three clean sheets ahead of Arsenal’s trip to the Amex to face Brighton.
DEF: Antonee Robinson (Fulham)
Fulham’s left-back has seven assists to his name this season, already surpassing his total from 2023/24 Fantasy by one assist. The Cottagers host an Ipswich Town side who have failed to score on two of their last three outings.
DEF: Dean Huijsen (Bournemouth)
A home encounter with Everton gives the centre-back the opportunity to continue his excellent recent form. Huijsen is the joint top-scoring defender in Fantasy over the last six Gameweeks, earning 42 points, thanks to two goals, three clean sheets and nine bonus points.
MID: Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)
In his eighth season at Liverpool, the Egyptian is enjoying the best form of his career in Fantasy. Salah has already surpassed the 200-point mark in just 18 matches, scoring 17 goals and assisting a further 13.
MID: Cole Palmer (Chelsea)
A visit to Selhust Park gives the English playmaker the chance to bounce back from his blank at Ipswich. Over the last six Gameweeks, Palmer’s 25 shots, 12 shots on target and 18 chances created all rank among the top two players in Fantasy.
MID: Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford)
Bryan Mbeumo continues to silence his critics, becoming the fourth player to break the 100-point barrier this season, and the only one of the non-premium players to do so. He’s now scored ten goals in this campaign and should be considered fixture-proof.
MID: Luis Diaz (Liverpool)
Diaz has scored three goals in his last two appearances over the festive period, collecting 22 points.
FWD: Alexander Isak (Newcastle)
Alexander Isak remains an enticing fantasy pick, bagging three goals and two assists in the last four gameweeks. Isak has the routes to points and is on penalties.
FWD: Raul Jimenez (Fulham)
At a cost of just £5.5m, the Mexican can offer great value at home to Ipswich. Jimenez has scored in each of his last two starts at Craven Cottage, totalling 17 points across those outings.
FWD: Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa)
A home encounter with the Foxes looks encouraging for the Villa forward’s prospects. Watkins has produced a goal, an assist and 12 points in each of his last two starts at Villa Park.
