Fantasy Premier League: Hot tips ahead of Gameweek 21

Date:

What a midweek we have coming up. Fantasy Premier League is back, every game is on TV and there are a couple of plum match-ups which could turn into points bonanzas.

The key talking point this week is how big to go on Manchester United assets.

Before last week’s draw at Liverpool they had five losses and just four goals in six games – that is not what you want in FPL.

But now, Southampton at home. The league’s second-worst defence, conceding more than two goals per game… it’s an opportunity you can’t miss.

FORMATION: 3:5:2
GOALKEEPER: Jordan Pickford (Everton)
Everton’s home form over the last two seasons suggests they can begin David Moyes’ second spell in charge with a clean sheet when they face Aston Villa on Wednesday evening. They have kept 13 shutouts in such contests from 2023/24 onwards, more than any other side.

DEF: Gabriel (Arsenal)
The Arsenal centre-back’s attacking threat was evident on Sunday, with Gabriel scoring his fifth goal of the season against Manchester United in the FA Cup. The Gunners entertain north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in strong defensive form, keeping a clean sheet in each of their last four matches at Emirates Stadium.

DEF: Lewis Hall (Newcastle)
Newcastle’s left-back has amassed 42 points in the last five Gameweeks, combining three assists with four clean sheets and seven bonus points.

DEF: Daniel Munoz (Crystal Palace)
Two goals in his last seven matches shows the Crystal Palace wing-back’s attacking potential for his visit to Leicester City. Munoz has had 20 shots in the box this season, placing him second among all defenders in Fantasy.

MID: Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)
The captain’s armband is temporarily taken from the Egyptian in Gameweek 21 as a result of Liverpool’s visit to Nottingham Forest. Salah’s hosts are one of only two sides to stop him scoring or assisting this season, placing a greater degree of risk on his potential for a huge haul.

MID: Cole Palmer (Chelsea)
A home fixture against AFC Bournemouth highlights the appeal of Chelsea’s playmaker for the armband. Palmer has produced double-figure returns in two of the last three Gameweeks, bettering Salah for points on each of those occasions.

MID: Bruno Fernandes (Man Utd)
A home encounter with Southampton suggests the Man Utd star could also be a strong captain option in Gameweek 21. Fernandes has three goals and five assists in his last six outings at Old Trafford, with his tally of 52 points across that spell being at least TWICE the total of any team-mate.

MID: Anthony Gordon (Newcastle)
Newcastle’s winger is the most-bought player in the Gameweek, with more than 450,000 rushing to acquire him. Gordon has scored or assisted in each of his side’s last eight matches across all competitions.

MID: Eberechi Eze (Crystal Palace)
The Crystal Palace star has produced back-to-back attacking returns for the first time this season, scoring against Southampton and supplying an assist against Chelsea. Since returning from injury in Gameweek 13, Eze’s 20 shots and 15 chances created are both team-leading totals.

FWD: Alexander Isak (Newcastle)CAPTAIN
Newcastle’s forward is the in-form player in Fantasy right now, having scored in seven successive Gameweeks. Isak has totalled nine goals and two assists in that spell and his relentless run makes him the standout captain pick for Gameweek 21.

FWD: Raul Jimenez (Fulham)
The Fulham forward visits West Ham United on the back of three goals in the last two Gameweeks, including his season-high hauls of 13 points last time out. Jimenez is the second most-bought forward in the Gameweek, with 240,000+ new owners.
